PDS™ Plus Antibacterial Violet Monofilament Absorbable Surgical Suture, Size 0, 60", CTX needle, is a synthetic monofilament suture made from polydioxanone. It incorporates an antibacterial agent, triclosan, which has been shown to reduce the risk of surgical site infections by inhibiting colonization and killing surrounding bacteria on the suture line.

The CTX needle features a taper point design, suitable for soft tissue closure, ensuring smooth and precise penetration without cutting through tissue fibers. Its 60-inch length and large size 0 gauge are intended for high-tension closures such as deep fascia, abdominal wall, and other substantial tissue layers.

This suture retains approximately 80% of its initial tensile strength at 2 weeks, 70% at 4 weeks, and 60% at 6 weeks. Its extended wound support makes it suitable for healing tissues under continuous mechanical stress or where slow healing is expected. The suture gradually hydrolyzes and is completely absorbed between 183 and 238 days.
